We were in Cote d'Azur primarily the famous Nice Carnival, which rivals the ones in Rio and New Orleans. The carnival dates back to the 13th century and is heavily influenced by Catholic tradition. Held every year just before the period of lent, the carnival was meant to entertain the kings and to give the people of the city a chance to indulge in heavy merry-making before they did their penance for 40 days during lent.
Here are shots of the Corso Illuminé, a parade of colourful costumes, confetti and towering harlequins that moved around the famous Place Masséna and Promenade des Anglais in the city. It was quite magnificent!
Rachel from the USA who does not like to smile for photos. haha

It snowed all but for a day!
Thank goodness I took these pictures on the way to the university because on the way back to my apartment later in the evening, everything had melted away!
Looking at the snow from the apartment.
At the train station.
The St Pauls at Victor Hugo.
A misty view of the L'Isere.
Happy in the snow!
Snowed in on campus!
